Southwest General Medical Group, Inc.– Neurosurgery offers quality medical care in a warm, friendly environment.

Our physicians specialize in diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases and conditions affecting the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Dr. Bhupinder Sawhny has special interest in trigeminal neuralgia and surgical treatment of chronic pain. Dr. Steven Fulop has special interest in minimally invasive spinal surgery, disc replacement surgery, cervical degenerative disease and cranial and spinal gamma and cyberknife radiosurgery.

Phone calls

Phone calls are accepted Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office phone number is 440-891-8880. If you need to speak with a physician after hours, please leave a message with the answering service to have the physician paged. The doctor will return your call. If you have an emergency, go the Emergency Room!

Appointment Scheduling

Appointments are available as follows:

Monday 1 - 4 p.m. Dr. Fulop
Tuesday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Dr. Sawhny
Wednesday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Dr. Fulop

To schedule an appointment, call the office at 440-891-8880. We require 24-hour notice if you need to cancel or re-schedule an appointment so that we can use the time to accommodate other patients. If you are 15 minutes late for your scheduled appointment time, we will need to re-schedule your appointment.

Patient Privacy/Confidentiality

All Southwest General Medical Group, Inc. practices are HIPAA compliant. All patients are asked to read our Privacy Policy.

Prescriptions and Refills

If you need to renew a prescription, you may call our office. Also, your pharmacist may call or fax our office with refill requests. We request 48 hours notice for prescription refills so that we can be sure to accommodate the needs of our patients.

The following information will be needed for the prescription request/refill:

• Name of medication
• Strength of medication
• How often medication is to be taken
• Quantity needed (30 day or 90 day)
• Date on which the prescription was last filled
• Pharmacy phone number
• Pharmacy fax number (if you are requesting that the Rx be faxed into pharmacy)
• Phone number where the patient can be reached, in case we need to contact the patient that day

Test Results

Test results will be shared with you by phone or letter within seven to 10 working days. If you have questions about your test results, they can be answered by calling our office or on your next office visit.

Hospital Care and Outpatient Services

Southwest General Medical Group, Inc. physicians are affiliated with Southwest General and offer hospital care and outpatient services at the hospital’s Main Campus or at its conveniently located facilities in Brunswick, Middleburg Heights and Strongsville.

Insurance

Southwest General Medical Group, Inc. physicians are approved providers for many insurance plans. However, it is your responsibility to contact your insurance company by calling the member services phone number to verify that the physician you are scheduling with (Dr, Sawhny or Dr. Fulop) is an approved provider on your insurance plan. Please bring your current insurance card with you to your appointment along with a photo ID, such as your driver’s license.

Referrals/Pre-certifications

If you need to see a specialist, your insurance company may require a referral. It is your responsibility as a patient to determine if your insurance requires a referral, to verify that the specialist (Dr. Sawhny or Dr. Fulop) is on your plan, and to obtain a referral from your primary care physician. You must have a referral from another physician and current testing before visiting our office.

Billing/Payment Information

Co-pays are due at the time of your visit, when checking in for your appointment.

Please bring your insurance card with you to each visit for verification. Please notify us of home address, phone number and/or insurance changes. This will allow for proper contact and billing.
